On Saturday 14th April 2018, Holy Family Parish Church, Langley, hosted The Mass in Celebration of Marriage presided over by Bishop Peter Doyle.
Couples from all around the Diocese joined in celebration as they once more renewed their commitment to each other and pledged themselves anew to love and honour each other; for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health; till death do them part. Bishop Peter spoke eloquently of the Vocation of Marriage and the Marriage covenant that strengthens the bond of peace, charity, love and commitment to children between the couples and forms a fundamental part in the strengthening of our society. Bishop Peter continued to express that from the Marriage covenant flows the gift of children which in turn feeds into other vocations such as the Single and Religious life and Ordained ministry; this being of significant importance for our Diocese as we journey through our Diocesan year of Prayer and Vocation 2017-18. The Bishop also warmly welcomed all those who were either widows or widowers and encouraged all to embrace the love and mercy of God and to walk humbly with our God.
At the end of Mass Bishop Peter presented certificates to those couples who celebrated milestones in their Marriages and ended with a Solemn Blessing. After the Mass all were invited to stay for refreshments and mingle in fellowship as the sun shone beautifully on all present and complimented the festivities of such a splendid celebration of Married and Family Life.
